Foundation Alumni Clinical Professor Catherine Birman has received a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM), for service to medicine through Otolaryngology.
CatherineĀ is an ENT surgeon specialising in paediatric and adult cochlear implants, otology and paediatric ENT. She is one of the most experienced cochlear implant surgeons worldwide and within Australia, having performed over 1400 cochlear implant procedures.
Catherine currently holds a Conjoint Grant with Professor Gary Housley, for their project Progression of Hearing Performance Following Cochlear Implant Neurotrophin Gene Augmentation.
