Fellowship

Please note that this Award is not on offer in the FY2020 Application Round

Purpose

Mid-Career Fellowships in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery (OHNS) enable an individual to obtain postdoctoral experience with the view to establishing a research career in Australia or New Zealand. Fellowships are awarded for a one-term, four year period, the final two years of which will normally be spent in the Fellow’s host institution and the first two years spent in an alternative institution in either Australia, New Zealand or overseas.

This Award was previously known as the Research Fellowship.

Term of award

Up to four (4) years.

Eligibility

Scientists or fully qualified physicians or surgeons, with 1-7 years postdoctoral research experience. Current holders of a similar career development fellowship are ineligible, as are applicants who have previously held and been funded for a GPRWMF Mid-Career Fellowship or Research Fellowship. Applicants must be a citizen or permanent resident of Australia or New Zealand.

Funding

The annual level of support will be in the NHMRC Career Development Fellowship Level 1 range (or equivalent in New Zealand). For the Australian/New Zealand components, a maintenance allowance of AUD 15,000 per annum will be provided. If there is an overseas component, additional support towards minimum cost airfares will be provided (as per Terms and Conditions) as well as a living allowance of AUD 25,000 per annum.
