Dr. Andrea Coleman

Dr. Andrea Coleman

Dr Coleman is currently a Surgical Trainee in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery in Queensland after spending her years as a junior doctor in North Queensland.

Her research has focused on the microbiota in relation to ear health in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, specifically focusing on determining if there are protective organisms maintaining healthy ears in children. She was awarded her PhD for this research in 2021.

Dr Coleman has a passion for supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in community-driven ear health research. Her other research includes investigation of genomic targets for diagnostics in Streptococcus milleri and microbiome therapies for prevention of upper respiratory and ear infections.
