Dr. Elizabeth Sigston
Dr. Elizabeth Sigston has worked as a surgeon in Otorhinolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery (ORLHNS) for more than 15 years. After receiving her FRACS (ORLHNS) in 2003, Elizabeth (Liz) undertook 3 years of sub-specialization in head and neck surgery, 1 year as Head & Neck Fellow at Monash Health and 2 years fellowship (AFSA) at the Hospital European George Pompidou in Paris, France. She also has a special interest in paediatric surgery primarily in management of OSA, transoral airway procedures and paediatric head and neck.
Liz’s professional activities extend beyond both clinical work and the medical field. An active translational researcher, she was conferred her PhD (Monash university) for her thesis “Emergence and Margins in Head & Neck Cancer: A new understanding”. Outside of medicine Liz has been recognised for her entrepreneurial skills, being named a Finalist in the Telstra Business Woman of the Year (Entrepreneur), Victoria, in 2015. Liz is a Senior Lecturer (Monash University), ASOHNS Board member, a founding member of Southern Melbourne Integrated Cancer Service (SMICS), Advisor to Victorian DHHS, Life & Leadership Coach, an advocate for women and well-being in medicine and is sought by media for opinion as a thought leader in healthcare.
