Dr Nuwan Dharmawardana a “Shining Light” for science

Dr Nuwan Dharmawardana – a GPRWMF 2018 Academic Surgeon-Scientist Scholarship (ASSRS) Awardee – has been awarded the People’s Choice Award for Best Oral Presentation at the Australian Society for Medical Research’s (South Australia) Annual Scientific Meeting.

Dr Dharmawardana’s research project “Developing new diagnostic and prognostic breath analysis tools for Head and Neck cancer” is being carried out at Flinders University. His award-winning presentation discussed the details of this project, particularly compounds which have been identified as potentially predictive of cancer.

Dr Dharmawardana’s research on this project has also been highlighted in South Australian newspaper Adelaide Now, in the article “Shining lights in field of science: SA’s brightest hailed for medical marvels” (see link below).
