Professor Richard Douglas appointed as GPRWMF Chair in Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery

The Foundation is delighted with the recent appointment of Professor Richard Douglas as the inaugural Chair in Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Auckland.

Established with funding of $2 million over five years from the Foundation, the primary purpose of the Chair is to provide leadership in the specialty of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery in New Zealand and across the region. Foundation Chair Professor Bill Coman AM said “Professor Richard Douglas brings an impressive track record of clinical and scientific achievement to the position. We are confident that his appointment will yield positive and important progress in the specialty in coming years”.

Since 2009, Richard has won over $1.2 million in competitive grants from the Foundation, with a primary focus on researching causes of and treatments for chronic rhinosinusitis.
The Foundation congratulates Professor Douglas on this well-deserved appointment.
