Professor Marcus Atlas has been recognised for his “significant service to tertiary medical education, and to otolaryngology”, by being awarded a Member of the Order of Australia for the 2022 Honours List.
Marcus is a prominent figure in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, renowned for his ear, hearing and skull base surgeon-scientist work. He is an active member of the Western Australian community, especially through his work at the Ear Science Institute Australia, of which he is a founding director.
The Foundation is proud to have supported Marcus’ projects over the years, from a 1996 Grant-In-Aid researching Meniere’s disease to, more recently, a 2018 Conjoint Grant exploring regeneration of hair cells as a potential treatment for hearing loss.
