Clinical Research Grant

Grant

Purpose

To support Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgeons and accredited surgical trainees in OHNS in building research capability and undertaking research projects with relevance to clinical application, through the provision of funding towards the employment of a part-time research assistant, research nurse or graduate student.

Term of award

Up to two (2) years.

Eligibility

Applicants must be involved in clinical/surgical practice and have a record of clinical/surgical achievement.

Applicants must be a member of the Australian Society of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery or the New Zealand Society of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, or an accredited surgical trainee.

Applicants must demonstrate a limited research component to their career to date i.e. not have major research experience, nor have received major funding for research activities.

Individuals who have previously been awarded a GPRW Academic Surgeon-Scientist Research Scholarship may apply for this Award, providing that they have undertaken limited research since graduation and can demonstrate limited research support from external sources at the time of application.

Funding

Up to AUD 50,000 per annum, all-inclusive. At least 80% of the Funding must be used towards the employment of a research assistant, research nurse or graduate student.

Funding may not be used towards conference attendance, publication costs or intellectual property-related costs.

Funding may not be used to fund institutional overheads, administrative charges and other indirect costs of research.

Applications are open during the annual Award Round (early July to late August), with outcomes being communicated in December. Applications must be submitted online via the Foundation's Applications Portal.
