Prof. Benjamin Dixon
Professor Dixon is a distinguished Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and serves as the Director of the Department of ENT, Head and Neck Surgery at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne.
After completing his specialist training in Australia, Professor Dixon pursued a PhD at the University of Melbourne, which he finalized during his Post-Fellowship training in Toronto, Canada. His doctoral research focused on the impact and implementation of image-guided surgery in skull base surgery, laying the groundwork for his ongoing research endeavours.
Ben is the inaugural Garnett Passe and Rodney Williams Professor of Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery within the Department of Surgery at the Melbourne Medical School, the University of Melbourne. His new academic program, dedicated to Head and Neck Cancer and Skull Base Surgery research, will enhance collaboration between the clinical services at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and various research and clinical groups at the University and its affiliated institutes. Under Professor Dixon’s leadership, the program will aim to develop both undergraduate and postgraduate research initiatives, contributing to the University’s long-standing tradition of excellence. This partnership with St Vincent’s Hospital and Passe & Williams Foundation will serve as a catalyst for growth in surgical academia and treatment, further solidifying Australia’s position on the global ENT and Head and Neck Surgery map.
