Dr. Nayellin Reyes-Chicuellar is a passionate ENT trainee and PhD candidate at the University of Western Australia, dedicated to advancing healthcare through innovative research and community-driven initiatives. With a multicultural background, including training and practice in Mexico and Australia, Dr. Reyes-Chicuellar brings a unique perspective to otolaryngology, enriched by her deep understanding of diverse cultures and healthcare systems.

Dr. Nayellin Reyes-Chicuellar’s work is deeply inspired by her experience with Australian Aboriginal and Mexican Indigenous communities. She values the rich cultural heritage of these populations and is committed to improving ear health outcomes by integrating respectful, community-focused care. Her approach emphasizes listening, collaboration, and tailoring healthcare solutions to meet the unique needs of these communities, fostering trust and long-term impact.

Nayellin’s research funded by the Garnett Passe and Rodney Williams Academic Surgeon-Scientist Research Scholarship, focuses on Sensory Gating Dysfunction and Tinnitus: Pathophysiology and Therapeutic Modulation with rTMS. Tinnitus is a debilitating condition that significantly impacts healthcare systems and patients’ quality of life. This project reflects her love for ENT, particularly otology, as she delves into understanding the neural mechanisms of tinnitus and explores non-invasive treatment options.

Nayellin’s passion for otology and her dedication to bridging gaps in ear health make her a respected leader in the field, with a profound commitment to equitable and culturally informed care.
